A fabulous evening of Music and Dance: ANGELS DELIGHT & SUDBURY SILVER SWANS CELEBRATION on 5th DECEMBER 2023

What a fantastic evening: Angels Delight, flute and harp duo, accompanied the Silver Swans in the ballet “Dance for your Life” to the music An Artist’s Life by Johann Strauss, they also played a beautiful piece of music, Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni. The large audience comprising adults and children were captivated by the expert playing by these two talented musicians. Not only did they excel but are most charming. We were so very grateful that they honoured us with their presence. 

We were particularly grateful that Angels Delight, Adriene (flute) and Anne (lever harp) recorded the Strauss piece for this ballet. It was initially used for the film which was included in the inaugural Silver Swans Celebration Day on October 1^st 2023 at The Global Headquarters of The Royal Academy of Dance in London. The ballet films were streamed worldwide to Silver Swans teachers and their dancers as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America to name a few countries as well as all over Europe. There were over 240 Silver Swan dancers from Germany, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and all over England attending and also performing on the day.

“Recollections of The Great War 1914-1918”

A play to mark the Centenary of World War 1 was performed in aid of “You Are Not Alone”, the Mental Health Charity for Farming and Rural Residents, at Crow’s Hall, Debenham, Suffolk on 11^th November 2018. This moving play opened with a scene set in a “Palace of Varieties”, just before the outbreak of the War.

Adriene Ellis on Flute, with Anne Chorley playing Harp, gave a most convincing performance of pre-1914 music that would have been heard in Music Halls of the time. The clear tone of Adriene Ellis’ flute soaring to the rafters of the Barn combined with the rippling notes of Anne Chorley’s Celtic Harp enthralled the audience. The music ranged from “Down at the Old Bull and Bush”, “The Pipes of Pan”, “Love’s Old Sweet Song” to “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo”, thus giving a good sense of the period. The charming talented Duo greatly enhanced the performance and enjoyment of the play”.
